Journey to the land of summer south of the Equator (during winter in Canada) for diverse trout fishing in a beautiful, serene, and welcoming country. Chile is renowned for its beauty and natural resources. In addition to dry-fly fishing for trout, Chile has some of the most unique and spectacular landforms on the planet. Have you ever hiked through a bamboo forest to get to a trout stream? From mountain peaks higher than the Rockies, to plant and animal species found nowhere else on the planet, Chile is different—and special.
Worlds away from the hustle and bustle, Futa Lodge sits on the 'Big River' (Futaleufú translated from the Tehuelche language). The river slices through some of the most remote and breathtaking scenery on the planet. Futa Lodge presents a landscape as untouched as any in the world and a Patagonia fly fishing experience equal to the magnificent setting. The Futaleufú River has clear waters teeming with both brown and rainbow trout that feed on abundant hatches of mayfly, caddis and stoneflies. Average rainbows and browns are in the 14″-16″ class but much larger fish are caught regularly. There´s even the occasional sea-run fish, guaranteed to put a bend in your rod! In truth though, whilst the chance of a big fish is a daily occurrence, it’s hard to be totally focused on the fishing in a place this special.
The first class accommodations and service provided by the lodge and its staff will make this an adventure you’ll remember for a lifetime. The lodge accommodates up to eight guests and offers excellent Chilean wines and cuisine. There are three cottages, one next to the main lodge and two adjacent to the river. The main lodge consists of a cozy living room with a fireplace and two more double bed-rooms. Futa Lodge does not have a set schedule; therefore, rates for stays from four nights/three days up to seven nights/six days are available. Non-fishing rates are also available.
