Fortress Lake is tucked away in a stunning, remote valley of the Canadian Rockies surrounded by towering peaks that form a 360 degree 'Fortress'.  Offering some of the largest brook trout on the planet, Fortress Lake is located close to Jasper and Banff National Parks and Lake Louise. Situated in the province of British Columbia’s Hamber Provincial Park, this lake is an integral part of the Canadian Rocky Mountains UNESCO World Heritage Site. Fortress Lake Retreat provides anglers seeking trophy brook trout a full service lodge accommodation and semi-guided fishing experience. 

Fortress Lake Retreat has a low maximum capacity of 14 guests per week, with the season running, depending on weather, from May 31 to September 30. The cozy, comfortable cabins and tasty cuisine enjoyed in the mountain ambience will make you feel right at home. This remote location is accessed by helicopter and guests enjoy spectacular mountain views on the 50 minute helicopter flight through the Canadian Rockies. The flight takes guests over a vast area where the scenic views can include the Columbia Icefield, the world renowned Maligne Lake, Chaba Glacier, Mount Alberta, the headwaters of the Athabasca River, Mount Clemenceau and Mount Columbia. There are no roads, no industrial activity, and no motorized ground access to spoil the view. 

The helicopter flight to Fortress Lake departs from Calgary, Alberta. This flight will be pre-arranged and directions provided at the time of booking.

What’s included:

Accommodations at Fortress Lake Retreat, all meals, snacks, non-alcoholic beverages, semi-guided fishing and sharing of lake knowledge, use of power boats and canoes/kayaks, sharing of trail and paddling knowledge. 

Not included:

Alcohol, flies, lures, fishing gear/supplies (available for purchase at Fortress Lake Retreat). PST and GST taxes will be added to package pricing. A B.C. fishing licence is required and can be purchased online prior to departure.

Rates:

Flights depart Mondays and Fridays and the packages are four, five, or eight calendar days. Rates include the return helicopter flight from Calgary to Fortress Lake and are per person.
