Delta Fishing trips are designed as day trips for travelers visiting Buenos Aires with only a day or two to spare to fish the nearby Paraná River Delta, just 45 minutes from the city. This is the first fly fishing operation in the area and a perfect add on to your Argentinian adventure. The unique fishery allows you to cast a line within view of city skyscrapers or tuck inside braided wetlands teeming with shots at elusive golden dorado and tararira amid lush vegetation and great bird watching.
Although the colorful dorado and its aggressive behaviour make it one of the most exciting gamefish to catch, there is very little written about fly fishing for dorado in this area. Its complex feeding regime and migratory nature ensure challenging and rewarding fishing opportunities for both expert and entry-level anglers. Tararira are another unique fish species that is targeted. These prehistoric looking, aggressive fish take poppers and surface flies like few others. Depending on conditions, fishing is within nearby island chains located throughout the Paraná Delta. Habitats include small channels in between islands, shores along the main and lower branches of the Paraná, lagoons and the exterior border of the delta - where it meets the Rio de la Plata.
Your Delta Day Trip will begin after breakfast, with a prearranged transfer from your hotel to the marina. After a morning fishing session and depending on where the fishing took place, a lunch break will be held either at the lodge or full meals can be prepared in advance and taken with you. All drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are included for lunch. The afternoon fishing session ends at 6:00 pm and scheduled transfers return guests to their Buenos Aires hotel after fishing.
Top quality fly fishing equipment is included, as well as exceptional meals and all drinks. Delta fishing trip packages deliver a remarkable approach to nature, far from what anyone would expect so close to the cultural epicentre of Buenos Aires.
Lodge stay options are also available for those interested in an overnight stay coupled with great dorado fishing. The lodge was constructed following the typical 'Delta' style, a traditional wood construction built on stilts. The maximum capacity is four guests, which ensures intimacy and personalized attention. Each room has a private bathroom. For those staying overnight, appetizers and dinner are served at 8:30 pm and breakfast time on the following morning is pre-arranged with guests, followed by more great dorado and tararira fishing. Fishing hours will change slightly depending on the time of year.
